Being strong believers in alternative medicines to complement traditional veterinary medicine, we frequently use acupuncture, dietary supplements, and Limu as part of your pet's treatment plan.
All of these products and services are available at the clinic.
Acupuncture is a method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing. We use it for pain control with dogs and cats.
According to the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture, "the modern scientific explanation is that needling the acupuncture points stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These chemicals will either change the experience of pain, or they will trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones which influence the body's own internal regulating system."
We use Standard Process dietary supplements for dogs and cats to add vitamins and minerals to their diets. These supplements are from whole food crops grown on certified organic farmland.

We use Limu for several reasons:
Limu helps healing, in general, and has protective effects against rigors of everyday life and stresses. It facilitates body functions in today's weakened and depleted soil that is frequently contaminated with pesticides.
Limu is harvested on the island of Tonga in the South Pacific. For over 3,000 years, folk healers on Tonga have used Limu to treat infections, injuries, skin problems, and for overall well-being. It can be eaten raw or cooked.
Scientifically known as Sphaerotrichia divaricata, Limu grows in dense aquatic forests in shallow waters and replenishes itself naturally when harvested. Tongan Limu is nutritionally superior to similar species found in other locations and is the richest source of Fucoidan. According to Wikipedia,
"Researchers began studying fucoidan around 1970, and since that time fucoidan has been cited in approximately 700 studies published in the National Library of Medicine's database. The overall findings of this large body of research, coupled with anecdotal evidence provided by a long history of use of fucoidan-bearing seaweed in areas such as Japan, Hawaii and Tonga, indicate that fucoidan demonstrates great potential as a safe nutritional answer for a wide variety of health complaints."
Many of these studies were published in prestigious medical journals such as these:
