Critters and Pals Animal Clinic

Caring for the pets you care for

About Us

Critters and Pals Animal Clinic provides veterinary services to small animals, equine, and limited exotic animals.  We also offer acupuncture treatment for animals because acupuncture complements or exceeds almost any aspect of Western medicine.

Our focus is on preventative medicine and owner education.  We do not want to focus on a disease only when it becomes a problem.

Our primary clinic at 804 Broadway in Lamar is open five days a week:

  • Monday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Twice a month we see clients in Lockwood, Missouri, on a Wednesday and a Saturday.  The Wednesday clinic is for surgeries, and the Saturday clinic is for regular veterinary care.   Both days have products available for your pets such as flea control, heartworm prevention, shampoo, and prescription refills.  Call the Lamar clinic to schedule appointments:  417-682-5335 .

Payment is required at the time of services.  To help with the health care costs of your family pet, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and CareCredit.

CareCredit is a GE Money Company card which offers you convenient payment options.  For more information on CareCredit, visit http://www.carecredit.com/ .

Our Veterinarian

Dr. Christine L. Martin, DVM

Our veterinarian is Dr. Christine L. Martin, DVM, who is a 1995 graduate of Texas A&M and is a second-generation veterinarian.  She began her practice in Sulpher Springs, Texas, and moved to Lamar in 2001.

Dr. Martin attended acupuncture training in 2003 - 2004 and is currently working on finishing the requirements for acupuncture certification.

Thomas and Latte

Thomas (left) and Latte (right) are the clinic cats.  They are delightful, affectionate cats but have been known to get into more than they should.  They have the run of the clinic at night but are in the kennel by day to avoid unfortunate encounters with dogs or cats coming in for treatment.
